Fate & Destiny

I was asked today if I believe in fate.  I said, "no, but I believe in destiny." The questioner told me they were the same thing and that I couldn't believe in one without believing in the other. I disagreed and said, "maybe I'm wrong, but I see fate as inevitable and unavoidable. There is no such thing.  But I believe in destiny as an eternal and divine, predetermined potential." 

Ah, potential. What a beautiful thing.
