Why Being Shipwrecked Ain't So Bad.

"My story starts at sea.
A perilous voyage to an unknown land.
A shipwreck.
The wild waters roar and heave,
the brave vessel is dashed all to pieces;
and all the helpless souls within her drowned.

All save one.
A lady,
whose soul is greater than the ocean,
and her spirit, stronger than the sea's embrace.
Not for her a watery end,
but a new life beginning on a stranger shore.

It will be a love story,
for she will be my heroine for all time.
And her name will be Viola."
~Will Shakespeare

We think there is nothing worse that could happen to us than to have what we know and understand about ourselves and our lives destroyed.  I don't believe that this is true. I think the worst possible thing is stagnancy.

I love this explanation from Shakespeare in Love about Twelfth Night. There is a lot to bite into.
"the brave vessel is dashed all to pieces; and all the helpless souls within her drowned; all save one. A lady, whose soul is greater than the sea's embrace. Not for her a watery end, but a new life beginning on a stranger shore."

A friend of a friend once said that breakdowns lead to breakthroughs. Our souls/spirits/essences/whatever you want to call it, are ever changing, ever growing, ever evolving into something more glorious and wonderful than what was before. Who we were yesterday, good or bad, functions like falling leaves in autumn. We tumble in pieces to the ground, sometimes in seeming tragedy, sometimes in simple tranquility, to be buried in snow for what feels like far too long, only to seep into our roots and provide nourishment for who we are to be next.

"But all ends well."
"How does it?"
"I don't know, it's a mystery."
It was written all over her face...
