Destiny is Dead

I wish that "signs" actually meant something and that destiny and soul mates were real. It'd make life a heckuva lot easier.

But instead, coincidences are just coincidences.

Probably because we're terrible trustees of agency.

Even if God gave us signs to point us in the right direction, we'd still walk off the path because it didn't look just the way we wanted it to.

We want things how we want things, come hell or high water.

That's why there is no destiny.

It would only take one average-tempered person to ruin the whole shebang for everyone.

Then where would we be?

Exactly where we are today.

No where in particular. No where terribly bad, but no where wonderfully good either.

What would happen if we chose to surround ourselves with strong, good, intelligent people as opposed to the physically attractive and supposedly "beautiful" or "perfect" people?

What if the beginning of our list of characteristics for a mate or for friends looked more like this:
  • Good
  • Caring
  • Inspiring
  • Intelligent
  • Challenging
  • Strong
  • Spiritual
  • Thoughtful
What if we crossed off the hair/eye color, height/weight requirements and focused on whether or not they challenged us to grow into better versions of ourselves?

What would happen to the world?

What would happen to our lives?

What would happen to our children?
